The product line

What Pella says sets Impervia apart

Everything below is how Pella describes its own product. We'll show you the samples in person so you can judge the frames, finishes and hardware for yourself.

01 · STRENGTH

Duracast fiberglass frames

Pella calls its Duracast fiberglass "the strongest material for windows and patio doors." It reports the material as 1.2x stronger than aluminum in a bend test and 11x the tensile strength of wood, on average.

02 · STABILITY

Built not to move in the heat

Duracast is a thermoset material that Pella says "won't expand, warp or sag in summer heat," with virtually no expansion and contraction — which helps seals and long-term stability.

03 · DURABILITY

Won't rot or corrode

Pella says the fiberglass "will never rot or corrode, and it resists dents, bends and breaks." The powder-coat finish meets AAMA 624 and is described as resisting chalking, fading and scratching.

04 · COLOR

Solid and dual-color frames

Solid colors include White, Brown, Black, Tan and Morning Sky Gray. Dual-color frames pair a White interior with a Brown, Tan, Morning Sky Gray or Black exterior (availability varies by frame type).

05 · DETAILS

Grilles, screens and locks

Grilles-between-the-glass in Traditional, Prairie and other patterns; InView high-transparency screens; and on double-hungs, a cam-action lock Pella says improves security and creates a stronger seal.

Energy & glass

Glass choices that matter in a North Texas summer

Pella states that Impervia offers energy-efficient options that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR guidelines in all 50 states. In practice, the glass package is where most of the energy decision happens — and the right choice for a west-facing wall in Southlake may be different from a shaded north window.

  • Low-E coatings: Advanced Low-E, SunDefense, SunDefense+, AdvancedComfort, NaturalSun and NaturalSun+
  • Dual-pane with argon, with triple-pane also available (not with AdvancedComfort Low-E)
  • Optional foam insulation in the frame and sash
  • Specialty glass: STC sound-control, tempered, laminated, tinted, obscure and impact-resistant options

Already have good windows but a hot room? Solar screens block 80–90% of Texas summer heat and can be a lower-cost first step.

Warranty

How Pella's Impervia warranty works

Under Pella's fiberglass windows and patio doors limited warranty, rectangular Duracast frames, sashes and panels in owner-occupied single-family homes are covered for as long as you own your home; that coverage isn't transferable and becomes a transferable 10-year warranty after a sale. Insulating glass is covered for 20 years and other non-glass components and the exterior powder-coat finish for 10 years, with labor included only within the first two years. Exclusions and conditions apply — read the full document.

Honest fit

Is Pella Impervia right for your home?

Often a good fit if you…

  • Want a strong, low-maintenance frame that won't rot or need painting
  • Like darker exterior colors such as Black or Brown and want a frame Pella says won't warp in summer heat
  • Plan to stay in the home and value Pella's lifetime frame coverage for owners
  • Want one consistent frame material across casement, hung and sliding styles

Worth comparing if you…

  • Want a wood interior — ask about wood lines instead
  • Are working to a tighter per-window budget — compare vinyl and composite options
  • Have only a few failed panes in sound frames — new glass may be enough

Frames still sound? You may only need new glass.

If your windows are foggy or drafty at the glass but the frames are solid, replacing just the insulated glass is usually a smaller job than new windows. We'll tell you which you need — even if that means less work for us.
